Micheal Foley has a proven track record in the journalism, marketing and mass communications fields spanning more than 15 years.
Foley grew up in western Wisconsin and got his start in journalism as a combat correspondent with the U.S. Marine Corps at bases in San Diego, Calif., and Okinawa, Japan.
After serving, he returned to western Wisconsin to earn his bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
During his career, Foley has filled various reporting, photography, design and editing roles at newspapers in New Richmond, Wis.; Eau Claire, Wis.; Red Wing, Minn.; Palm Springs, Calif.; and St. Paul, Minn. He also worked in Hudson, Wis., where he launched Hudson Patch, an Aol-owned local news website and also Hudsonite, an independent local news website.
He also has experience working at a large communications agency in Seattle where he managed writing, editing and various marketing and public relations projects for clients including Microsoft, T-Mobile and Amazon.
Foley is currently a research information officer for the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s Research Services division.
